Prompt

In the future all cars, buses and truck will be driverless. The only people travelling inside these vehicles will be passengers. Do you think the advantages of driverless vehicles outweigh the disadvantages?

Essay review

Annotated essay

Interactive

The world is changing rapidly, this includes the transportation system in various cities. In the soon future, the need for drivers to drive vehicles, will be something from the past. Driveerless system will be considered, and will replace the classic way of traveling. This altration may have some benefitis and drawbacks, which will be discussed in the following paragraphs.

To begin with the advantages of shifting to driverless vehicles, it is obvious, that traffic in urban areas will significantly reduced. This will be achieved, due to the fact that these machines are provided by artificial intelligence, capable of determining booth the speed and the distance of the trip. In addition, travelling will be definitely safer, since it will eliminate the factor of human errors on highways. Also, this step canavoid terrified accidents caused by unconscious drivers, driving under high alcohol consumption.

However, this develop in transportation system may have some disadvantages, including the loss of job opportunities in this feild. This replacement will lead to a situation which is hard on truck and buses drivers, who will be no longer needed for their services. Also. some individuals who consider driving as a method of entertaining, will be negatvely impacted. Such a change will kill their passion in driving

In conclusion, I argue that the benefits of shifting to a driverless vehicles outweigh its drawbacks, as safe roads is a priority for any city in the world.

Assessment summary

The essay addresses the prompt and presents a clear position, but suffers from frequent grammatical errors, awkward collocations, spelling mistakes, and punctuation issues like comma splices. While the structure is clear with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, the lack of accurate sentence boundaries and restricted lexical range limit the score to 5.0.

Scoring criteria

Task Response 6.0

Strengths

  • Addresses both advantages and disadvantages as required by the prompt.
  • Maintains a clear overall stance throughout the introduction and conclusion.

Weaknesses

  • Development is somewhat simplistic and relies on general assertions rather than concrete examples.
  • Some arguments, such as driving as a method of 'entertaining', are underdeveloped.

All parts of the prompt are addressed with a clear position, satisfying Band 6 requirements for Task Response, though support remains relatively basic.

Coherence & Cohesion 5.5

Strengths

  • Paragraphing is used logically to separate introduction, advantages, disadvantages, and conclusion.
  • Basic cohesive devices ('To begin with', 'In addition', 'However') are present.

Weaknesses

  • Relies on repetitive sentence-initial linkers.
  • Occasional mechanical cohesion and sentence boundary errors disrupt flow.

The essay presents information with some organization, but cohesion is mechanical and punctuation errors at sentence boundaries prevent a higher band.

Lexical Resource 5.0

Strengths

  • Attempts some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'transportation system', 'artificial intelligence', and 'job opportunities'.

Weaknesses

  • Frequent spelling errors ('Driveerless', 'altration', 'benefitis', 'terrified', 'feild', 'negatvely').
  • Limited lexical range with awkward phrasing ('method of entertaining', 'classic way of traveling').

Lexical resource is limited by noticeable spelling errors and unnatural collocations, placing the response firmly in the Band 5 range.

Grammar Range & Accuracy 5.0

Strengths

  • Attempts simple and some complex sentences, such as subordinate clauses with 'due to the fact that'.

Weaknesses

  • Persistent comma splices and punctuation errors.
  • Frequent grammatical inaccuracies including tense/aspect issues, unnecessary commas before verbs, and passive voice errors ('are provided by').

Grammatical control is weak, with frequent errors in punctuation and basic sentence structure that reduce readability.
